During this section of my AS Media course completing my magazine, the topic has made me think about the Magazine Industry. During my research I soon found that the magazine industry is declining on a broad scale.
The prominent reason for this is the internet. The public can access the information provided in magazines on the internet free of charge whenever they want.
For example Q, NME and and Uncut suffered double-digit ear-on-year sales declines in the second half of 2011. Also NME reported a 14% drop year-on-year, to 27,650 sales – a 4.7% decline compared to the previous six months.
However magazine companies are biting back from the set back and have put in attempts to bring back the popularity of their magazines by adding new features too appeal to the public. Such as if you purchase the magazine a code is including giving readers access to exclusive and extra information.
